About a month ago, 5th of July to be precise, L. A . Osenyi launched her inaugural event; ‘ Sip and Paint’. It’s main objective was to unwind, express and reflect and share the ideas of how life is at this particular point, with everything happening in and around us.
FOMO was killing me and I was constantly calling her asking for updates. Showing up for my friends and being present for them was a promise I made to myself as the year began.
Just two days after, a lot of things hit the headlines and I remember the occurrence that followed that week were so outrageous and every time I saw my Kenyan bracelet embedded with my name I could literally feel my heart dropping down to my stomach. Seventh heaven wasn't the way to describe sabasaba this year.
Grief became a heavy coat we couldn’t remove as Kenyans, we constantly carried the weight of unspoken sorrows. That must have been the saddest moment we shared as a country.( hopefully losing to Tanzania at CHAN won’t be another)
2nd of August, L. A gave us a 2.0 and rest assured she didn’t disappoint! Totally worth every penny and every second as per the testimonials. Running through some events and personal encounters from the various view of the people in the set up meant a lot of networking and a lot of engagement.
Despite the crazy turn of events that has happened this year from Trump and Musk’s saga, Tanzania vs. Kenya, Ivan and....Hehe!!(ama wacha tuachie hapo) just to name a few, we can’t overlook the great things that have happened in our individual lives.
If we unwind a bit, you and I can share the same sentiments that there are things that we’ve achieved; some have been a major success and we couldn’t imagine we would soar to those levels!!
It might be as simple as building a value in your personal brand or finally knowing how to manage your anger and come thy feathers (through the flute perhaps [•^•] ) or even better, finally being comfortable to express yourself or saying no without necessarily feeling the need to explain why.
It might be that you finally have the reason to live because you are curious of how your niece would grow. Being present in her life and being part of her journey to be the best version of herself, might be what your greatest wish is at the moment.
Seeing your friends succeeding in everything they do from learning how to code, to excelling in their start-ups or even learning how to use adobe suites to design, might be a continuous yet consistent goal that you have purposed to achieve whilst expressing gratitude.
At this point in our life , most things might not make perfect sense and above all you might not have answers to everything but most importantly do what you can, manage what you can and live life the best way you can.
Our hearts are continually restless, until they rest in whatever you find peace in, whether it’s HIM, him, her, they/them, it...and so on...
By being truthful to yourself, you’ll slowly learn that truth is like a lion and you don’t have to defend it. Just let it loose and it’ll defend itself.
Lastly
Three things
1. Know what you ought to believe.
2. Know what you out to desire.
3. Know what you ought to do.
Be well. Be good. Do good.
Adiós.
